weird gross 90s sexism aside, it's surprisingly good?? i originally didn't like the art style but it's growing on me.

Parasyte anime

@itsnero I've yet to finish that dang show but it has some super interesting ways of translating the manga's body horror into motion. The intro theme is also HILARIOUS to me but that might be because I've never been into Dir en Grey-alike stuff?

Parasyte anime

@Ferrovore okay the intro theme is just adorable to me bc the band that does it just... does THAT for every single opening they do. they did the Widely Reviled kaiji season 2 opening, I dunno how they get these gigs (loud warning??) youtube.com/watch?v=IWMvYkJ6-r

i definitely do skip the intro though NO THANKS just show me my nasty aliens thanks

Parasyte anime

@itsnero I can endure kinda doofy intro themes (I will always have a place in my heart for whatever Log Horizon's season 1 intro is doing here: youtube.com/watch?v=lb-4z6mOPH), but metal-screech vocals are a really hard sell for me. Which is a bummer, since I miss out on some complex instrumentation that way, but if I don't enjoy listening to a major part of a piece of music why spend time on it at all?

anime!!!!!!!!!!

@Ferrovore okay I have NO idea what this anime is but the fact that it has this kind of opening feels extremely at odds with how it looks, but I think I immediately like it for that??

anime!!!!!!!!!!

@itsnero Okay so Log Horizon is the kind of isekai I am ABSOLUTELY BONKERS FOR, in that everyone playing this super-popular fantasy MMO on a major expansion day got sucked into another dimension, and now they have to basically figure out how to Exist among a bunch of NPCs that are now way more sentient than before while using bodies that are extremely not their own. Also stuff like "how food/commerce work" and "what happens when you die."

anime!!!!!!!!!!

@itsnero It could be better about gender (like most anime, let's be real), but the fact that you see snippets of what each player's life was like outside of the game and how/why they interacted with it makes it so appealing to me, especially since in-world the game has been running for like a decade so there's a variety of experiences to draw from. A lot of them have careers and lives outside of MMOs so it's not a wall-to-wall NEET parade, either.

anime!!!!!!!!!!

@Ferrovore oh no this sounds like an isekai i might actually be into, holy shit

anime!!!!!!!!!!

@itsnero They actually grow as people? The second season made me care about the mental well-being of an elven raid leader named William Massachusetts? I stopped around where we learned kind of a bombshell about how the NPCs ("people of the land") handle artistic expression but this is reminding me how much I need to get back into things.
